Horseback Safaris & Wildlife Encounters
Moolmanshoek Private Game Reserve maintains a herd of approximately 250 horses, offering guided horseback trails across 80 km of mountain terrain. Riders cover up to 60 km over a weekend, ascending and descending nearly 400 meters through trails that pass zebras, warthogs, eland, springbok, and jackals. The reserve matches each rider to a horse based on height, weight, and ability, and provides endurance rides for advanced riders and quiet game-viewing walks for beginners.
Dining & Meals
The on-site restaurant serves traditional South African cuisine with dairy-free options and a full English/Irish breakfast selection, including local specialities, fresh pastries, cheese, fruits, and juice. Menus are prepared fresh daily by chef Suzi, and special dietary requirements are collected in advance. Guests can also request a packed lunch for trail rides or enjoy a sundowner with drinks and snacks at the barn.
Accommodation & Rooms
Rooms are located in a converted sandstone barn and in the main Edwardian farmhouse, each with a private entrance, garden or mountain views, and carpeted floors. Each unit includes a private bathroom, a work desk, a wardrobe, and electric blankets with a lit fireplace in cooler months. Rooms are cleaned daily, and guests receive thoughtful extras such as flowers on towels and nougat on beds.

Children can use the indoor play area, kids' outdoor play equipment, and the children's playground, while board games and puzzles are available in the shared lounge. Babysitting and child services are offered for parents who wish to join a trail ride or game drive. The property also provides family rooms and a picnic area where families can have meals outdoors.
